Homemade Carp Boilies Made Using Nut Fishing Bait Recipes For Big Fish!

Nut, seed and pulse baits for carp have always been outstanding. With so many carp anglers using marine, fish, and meat based baits today, being different represents a massive competitive advantage – so try out some seriously potent, habit-forming nut based homemade baits and recipes instead! Read on to discover more about how to drive your carp wild right and boost your catches big-time right now!

One of the simplest ways to make a nut bait is to buy a readymade semolina and soya base mix (or make this yourself for less money,) and add your nut ingredients and additives to this. Two of the most well proven carp bait nut ingredients are tiger nut meal and roasted peanut meal (technically tiger nuts are not actually nuts but nut sedge tubers.) The options for making endless forms of unique nut baits are very exciting, and offer many varied effects, special nutritional properties and other beneficial characteristics.

You could perhaps try beginning by using any homemade bait base mix with around 50 percent or more of nut ingredients. One of the greatest edges of incorporating tiger nut meals etc into your base mixes is not merely the sugars and oils or carbohydrate content, but the powerful digestion-boosting impacts of its unique fibre. In the case of peanuts, and almonds for instances it is the alkaloids content that make them even more habit-forming.

Walnuts and other nuts such as macadamia nuts, hazelnuts, and pistachio nuts need using too – these have potent lipids and some particularly stimulating bioactive factors few anglers will ever have realised they contain! Ground nut oil is one of the cheapest essential sources of omega oils you can find in the supermarket – maybe try it mixed with toasted sesame seed oil and hemp oil or walnut oil for instance!

You can save a fortune and make a basic soya flour and semolina base mix with your nut ingredients plus eggs to help binding. Or perhaps add additional CLO, egg albumin and whey gel, or even add just little wheat gluten for instance for a practical binding bait. Of course for those wishing for a more nutritious and more digestible bait, very many options and combinations are possible to create a bait totally unique to yourself. For example, with the addition of Vitamealo, sodium or calcium caseinate, lactalbumin or whey protein concentrate, soya isolate, caseins, enzyme-treated yeast, corn steep liquor powder, various pre-digested fish proteins and so on.

The CC Moore bird food ingredients including Sweet Meggablend and Meggablend Red, the gritty maize protein product Supergold 60 (60 percent digestible protein and nutritionally good enough to replace fish meals,) are just a sample of excellent ideal additions to nut based baits. But you can turn your bait into a really unusual one by combining many various nutritionally valuable and very attractive ingredients. For example using crushed tiger nuts, tiger nut flour and crushed hemp and adding krill meal, spirulina powder, bloodworm extract and tuna oil for instance.

If you want to cut your costs you can use maize meal or maize flour for up to half your bait to bulk it up. Carp love maize all year round even in winter, despite it not being the most nutritional nor digestible ingredient for cheap bulking up; it simply works! (It does naturally contain betaine and other bioactive antioxidants among other important factors.) I find using maize meal in combination with full fat semolina produces a bait that is easier to roll if cost is really an issue, however I would very much prefer to use highly nutritionally attractive ingredients which contain far more feed-triggering substance reasons to turn carp on!

Popular examples are Belachan, fish meals, krill and shrimp powders, calcium and sodium caseinates and blood powder, lactalbumin and whey protein concentrate. Egg albumin is a great highly nutritional binder and is often used in a fifty percent combination with whey gel. Wheat gluten is a another well proven binder where bait digestibility is less important. The milk powder products Vitamealo and Lamlac are very useful in aiding binding and soya isolate is another high-protein ingredient I have found really works well functionally in baits, from over decades of homemade bait making.

CC Moore pre-ground CLO is an attractive bird food based binder with a great track record which is ideal for economical absolutely top quality trustworthy very effective homemade mixes; you can include perhaps 8 ounces per pound of dry mix. If you use semolina it is a good idea to use only up to 7 ounces per pound of dry mix and ensure you improve the nutritional attraction of the bait intrinsically by adding some choice additives and ingredients, such as Robin Red, corn steep liquor powder, vanilla extract meal, molasses meal, CC Moore dried insect meal and shrimp type products for instance.

Making Homemade Boilies For Big Carp and Catfish Fishing!

My readers ask me questions every day on the subject of fishing baits. Far too many anglers just do not realise what are the most important aspects of carp or catfish baits that make fish most interested in picking them up – at all! Some of the very most vital aspects of how and why baits actually work and can be improved are inevitably missed; so why not read on now and find out more on how to make your baits and big fish catches better!

So how do you think a fish senses your bait in the first instance and how does this make a fish test out your bait with its mouth and various senses simultaneously? When you think about it, if they were ways you could enhance the impact of your baits on fish senses internally and externally, and even exploit how your baits change the water around your baits, then you will certainly massively improve your chances of catching loads more fish than the average angler!

I knew as a kid of 6 or 7 that fishing over tiny particles of bait that all dispersed in the water column where some sunk to the bottom, some remained hovering suspended and rising and falling in different water levels, and where some even rose to the surface, that this kind of bait was extremely effective for catching carp – and catfish later too. Bait success is very much all about dispersal in water. This dispersal is how fish come into contact with various bait substances, and these substances and particles provide a trail of suspended particles, and a concentration gradient of diffused substances in solution (or part solution) that lead the fish right back to the area of your hook baits waiting for them to make a mistake on them!

But there are endless things you can do to massively improve this effect so your fish are incredibly stimulated – even long before they come across your hook baits. It appears that relatively few anglers realise just what stages of modes of feeding behaviours carp can go through on their way to becoming hooked up! You can exploit and manipulate these behaviours by using various baits and bait substances, and combined fishing tactics and approaches to maximise fish behaviours in your unique personal favour.

Ok so you might think that using boilies or pellets straight from the bag is a very well proven way to catch carp, catfish or maybe big barbel for instance. But consider this; these fish home predominantly home in on the bait substances that leach out and become solution, that dissolve the most easily in the water. Dry baits take time to hydrate in water, and this also means that such baits are harder for fish to digest. But most worryingly is this; these baits take the longest to pull in fish – so you are wasting your valuable time, when you could be doing things to maximise every bait in every single fishing situation!

So consider this; next time you buy readymade baits use a few ideas from homemade bait making. In making homemade baits you learn countless tricks to overcome fish caution and manipulate both fish senses and feeding behaviours massively in your unique favour, but also get to know how to get very distinct competitive edges over the vast range of readymade baits out there which seem to confuse anglers so much.

So taken from my own products, let us imagine you are fishing a water dominated by a brand of readymade bait and you cannot hope to compete with the guys using that bait – because you either do not want to bother trying, or want to do things your own way, or simply do not see why you should spend all that money on bait when these guys are maybe getting it massively discounted or even for free. So what kinds of options might you consider to catch more fish despite fishing pressure from a dominant group on a bait?

The first obvious thing is to simply find out what their bait is and fish on the edge or on top of their baited areas in between times they are fishing in their chosen swims – that way you are catching fish guerrilla style and exploiting their efforts. This is an age old trick that has frequently caught angler good numbers of big fish. But you often cannot do it and anyway I for one do not fish this way because I prefer to do things my own way and derive far greater fun and satisfaction from my catches by doing this!

So maybe something you might do is maybe look at the boilie base mix they are using, and cut it so you make a cheaper more economical version – that the fish will recognise, that you can use but at much less cost. In fact this can be a brilliant edge and can lead to you catching even more fish than them as they will still be on the old version of the bait that fish could easily be getting wary of after enough captures.

Boosting your own unique boilie base mix with extra elevated levels of hygroscopic substances that are extremely rich in fish feeding triggers is a sure way to ensure you get really good results! But there are countless more innovative ways to catch more fish – economically, using methods, substances and knowledge beyond the conventional or the expected! HOMEMADE CARP BAIT RECIPES and Making Readymade Fishing Baits Catch More Fish!

When you need some powerful advice on designing carp and catfish baits and recipes for boilies, pastes and pellets, here is some very practical advice that really works on big wary fish and easy small fish, that will not merely help your catches right now but improve your understanding of how to achieve better results in summer or winter for years! These bait tips will work for anyone; so read on and reap your big rewards now!

Many anglers want a bait recipe. But how is this going to really help when still fail to create opportunities that are possible to catch more fish, or fail to maximise situations that result in potentially great catches being missed! What is important is that you really get to understand far better what fish are really about and how and why they do what they do in their watery medium. I say this because the watery medium aspect is totally vital in improving your success equation OK!

So many anglers merrily put out free baits and expect miracles. A very big part of fishing success comes down to ground baiting or free baiting skills, knowledge and experience. But remember one key thing. Fish can be excited or repelled by what you put out there and even if your bait is a popular and previously successful readymade bait it can actually work against you or reduce your chances if you do not realise what that bait is doing in the water, how and why it impacts of fish, and why it may make them excited or make them unduly suspicious.

Familiar ingredients additives and flavours can all be a turn off for fish for many reasons right down to simply not requiring the nutrition from a certain bait because they have been filled with them for so long, quite apart from being afraid of familiar baits and their potential dangers of hooks and capture etc.

One thing most anglers must have noticed is how many anglers us the same format of baits these days. Boilies are so commonly used in big carp and catfish fishing, and certainly they catch the majority of big carp around the world. But part of this is because so many anglers use them. I make my own pellets because they are different to standard boilies and unique baits in the presence of very wary fish can be a massive advantage and this is well proven time after time.

Whether you use readymade baits or homemade baits here is one thing I advise you to consider OK! Consider how hard and how well sealed your baits are in water, and how long it takes for the majority of soluble material and liquids to become soluble and become solution as part of the water column – thus attracting fish and inducing feeding type of responses that we require in order to most efficiently hook them.

So many readymade baits are hard, even if they sit in dips or bait soaks for a long time. Such baits might be useful in situations where nuisance fish and crayfish abound but even in such situations I have always found it far more effective to use soluble baits that break down pretty quickly –say within 5 hours as opposed to 12, 24 or 48 hours plus! Ideally what I want is my baits to actually become part of the water and not sitting there as a bed of baits on the bottom.

Even in stronger currents of rivers I aim to have such baits constantly breaking down and pulling in and triggering feeding. For rivers I might make baits square or disc shapes or rectangle odd shapes and make them using certain heavier ingredients but note in such baits you do not have to compromise on bait impacts and you can easily add things like crushed egg and oyster shell to add weight to soluble mixes OK! Crushed finely these kinds of ingredients are great too for when you want to launch hook baits and free baits into the distance.

In fact fishing moving water situations is an ideal place to seriously hone your bait effectiveness skills. Many barbel anglers have benefited from my experience of combining refining baits adapted from carp and catfish recipes, and used in search of river chub and other species where baits get washed out very quickly in moving water.

Imagine the power of being able to refine the impacts and potency of your bait in moving water, and then using those skills in the pretty still waters of lakes for instance. The impacts of such refined, so well adapted baits on fish and fish responses and feeding is hugely increased – by comparison to conventional baits, and catches differ very significantly! This is especially when compared to boilies made using eggs and the boiled or steamed; thus sealing inside the baits the vast majority of more water-soluble material and liquids within these baits!

I like countless anglers used to boil lots of my homemade baits. In fact I regard boiling as very detrimental to your baits in so many ways. All you need to do is compare the amount of stimulating bait material left in the water baits are boiled in, to realise that you are losing loads of potential catching ability of the baits – by leaving it behind in the boiling water!

I noticed my catch rates using homemade boiled baits really improved when I used to boil my baits in water that was first treated with additional soluble substances. Sure some of these lowered the boiling temperature of the water, among other effects but they really worked to improve my catches. For instance you might add condensed milk, evaporated milk, flavours, enhancers, marine and vegetable extracts, Horlicks powders, milk powders, milkshake powders, honey, chocolate source, raspberry puree or tomato puree, salmon, shrimp or crab paste etc, condiments of many kinds, sugars, sweeteners, syrups, yeast powders, enzyme-treated fish or liver among an endless list of others I know work.

The list is endless, but I advise you to look into hygroscopic substances and form you own personal list! But I would not only add these to water if you want to boil your baits, but soak these into readymade baits freshly defrosting, and to air-dried baits and also to particles, pellets, meat and marine baits, ground baits of many kinds including stick mixes, method mixes, spod mixes and so on! Take good note of this and you will reap big rewards! HOMEMADE CARP FISHING BAITS ? Vital Secrets of Shrimp Paste and Readymade Boilies!

When you think about it there are many reasons why carp love shrimps – they are natural food for a start but how can you exploit shrimp in ways to present incredibly irresistible levels of naturally concentrated attraction in your homemade and readymade baits – to catch loads more fish?! Read on to find out much more!

When I got into carp baits much more around 1980 shrimp meal was a very popular ingredient. It seems that many people had not figured out the link with krill, or lobster or abalone etc for that matter, but shrimp was all the rage and was used in fish meal based baits mainly. But most of the carp anglers I spoke to about this either had no clue why shrimp was effective or had some kind of vague idea such as it has something to do with what it contains, like pigments, polysaccharides, salts and amino acids and the like. However what these did once inside a fish was certainly not a subject for discussion primarily because hardly anglers really knew. But this aspect of bait is absolutely worth its weight in gold and I have found out very much of this not that I will explain here, but I will provide for readers newer to baits a few useful ideas to boost the performance of their baits!

Belachan is a fermented shrimp paste made in parts of Asia for many culinary applications to massively improve taste and palatability of dishes among other things. This should be no surprise as it is has a high salts content. The CC Moore European product version in powdered form is also available apart from Belachan block. This Belechan style powder is an extremely useful additive indeed for boosting the levels and concentrations of feeding triggers and attractors in your readymade baits and homemade dips and soaks as it is very soluble in a wide range of solutions. Bearing in mind that this is simply one example and all you need to do is think a little to produce baits that your fish will not be very familiar with, all it takes is a little imagination to come up with spicy shrimp pellets and meat baits and boosted hemp, nuts, pulses, crushed seeds and so on – all to great effect I might add!

Obviously making baits using highly soluble additives and ingredients is very stimulating to me because they are very stimulating to fish – and are they are usually easily digested too which in cooler water is especially important of course to maximise the potential of baits for even more bites and fish caught. To make a very simple soft paste recipe you have endless options so this is just one suggestion of a concentrated bait. All you do is mix your Belachan block with boiling water to make a dense slurry and mix this with the milk powder called Vitamealo. It will take quite a volume of Vitamealo to form a stiff paste but believe me it is well worth making and using! Put this paste into a glass of cold water and watch what happens.

This paste is very soluble although less so in colder water but is absolutely ideal for cold spring conditions. If you wish to make your paste more resilient again many options are available. You might mix your Vitamealo with whole egg powder, blood powder, caseins, maize meal, tiger nut flour, semolina, or CLO for example. Stiffened paste with a reasonable level of more insoluble ingredients with egg powder for instance makes effective boilies too although steaming baits instead of boiling them is preferable to maximise their nutritional attraction – intact! Now you know how to impregnate your readymade baits with shrimp and how to make a homemade shrimp boilie why not go for it and find out more?! Carp Bait Recipes – Secrets Of Readymade And Homemade Baits For Big Fish!

You may be looking for a new edge and keep trying costly new readymade boilies, but you have the power to make your own awesome baits extremely easily and cheaply – and far faster than you ever imagined! Such baits are very effective indeed when compared to standard baits because they can be made different to normal – and being different is truly the biggest edge in carp fishing! So read on to discover how to be an even sharper carper and get ahead and catch loads more fish this year and many years to come!

Today many anglers either care very much about the nutritional attraction of their baits – or not as the case may be. This is whether an angler always uses readymade baits or makes his own or uses both.

Ultimately the angler is aiming to be different and offer carp something irresistible – that overcomes instinctive and angler-programmed caution to as great a degree as possible. But most anglers actually do not do this because the basic format of their baits is far too standard. I may be stating the obvious here but if a big wary carp has been dealing with boilies and pellets on round, barrel or barrel shapes for the past 40 years it is pretty obvious he is going to be that much harder to hook no matter how mind-boggling the nutritional profile or potency of the enhancer and flavours and extracts incorporated etc in a readymade bait.

It is very obvious that carp learn by experience and association and this is at an instinctive level – basically just like humans. Without these instincts and constant behavioural adaptations survival is just not going to happen! Most anglers are unaware that the firmness and surface feel of the vast percentage of readymade baits makes it very easy for very wary fish to detect baits that are safe and baits that are not. I would go so far as to state that these days if you always use boilies that have been cut down into odd shapes or simple squeezed in half and stabbed a few times and chopped a bout with a pair of sharp nail scissors, then such baits will out-perform perfectly round or barrel shaped baits consistently.

A very striking example of how easy it can be to double your catches or get more fish that much faster is this example. In the nineties I used to fish a water in Essex where it was very noticeable that anglers using fresh readymade boilies straight from the bag struggled to catch many fish and blanked approximately 70 percent of the time when doing sessions of 12 to 60 hours duration.

In this situation I being a resourceful type of angler who always tries to utilise what I observe to best effect came up with many innovative alternative bait options that worked tremendously well but I never publicised what I was doing because that would have given other lazy anglers an edge they did not deserve!

The biggest carp I caught during this period was a leather of over 48 pounds, which I did not photograph as I had no camera, no sack and no mobile phone – you will learn why in a moment! I happened to hook this incredible fish on a homemade catfish rod which was the only rod I had left after someone had stolen pretty much all my gear the previous week when I had generously offered to go to get some more supplies from a local super market for a new friend who turned out to be a thieving you know what! It appears that the moment I left he began packing up my gear putting it straight in his car for a clean get-away. (Therefore going back to that water the following week was very strange with only one rod – and I really deserved that big fish!)

Later around that same period I hooked the fish called the little leather at Darenth Big Lake but lost it at the net so getting photos of forty pound plus leather carp has yet to be achieved – but who knows what the future holds! All through my fishing ever since the seventies I have kept aiming to observe how fish are behaving in response to angling pressure and change tactics, strategies and thinking. Before everything else a change of thought is needed so trying to keep an open mind is an essential asset.

Years ago I noticed I would hook very little-caught commons on small square hook baits as opposed to the round boilies that were very standard at that time in the eighties. This really got my thinking and it became obvious that anything that made fish less suspicious would produce more fish. One excellent idea from the early nineties that I came up with one day while helping a beginner on an Essex lake was this:

I noticed few fish were being caught on whole round readymade boilies straight from the bag. I had been messing around with crumbed homemade boilies since the mid-eighties and this idea occurred to me to help this new guy catch much quicker than normal. All I did was cut a few round 21-millimetre boilies to remove their outer skins so the baits were about 10 millimetres in diameter and square in shape.

Removing the outer skin of a boilie is one of the very best tricks to improve performance as the entire bait can more fully interact with the water in pulling fish to your hook. The extension of this is of course to soak these small square baits in whatever additives you wish. I think in the case in point, to help this guy I had made up a soak using LT94 fish meal, Marmite, halibut pellet powder, and crushed betaine pellets, plus a little Nash peach and strawberry oil palatants.

People who have heard of me for my ebooks consider that I am a homemade bait fanatic but in fact I am just as passionate about innovatively utilising readymade baits and bait substances applied in creative new ways. Making readymade baits become super-charged with potency with impacts that fish will never have experienced in such ways before is an area I am truly passionate about – because it is within the reach of every single angler to very seriously improve his or her catch results by doing this!

Creating your own homemade bait soaks as opposed to just buying them is a very exciting thing because you are literally creating new unique baits immediately and changing their nutritional profile, smell and palatability – all of which can be massive breakthroughs in hooking those elusive big rarely-caught fish that all anglers dream of catching!

The result of applying this bait soak treatment for a few hours on the small square baits previously mentioned was that after I had helped the new guy set up his gear he shortly afterwards hooked one of the very few linear carp in the lake at a great new weight of 27 pounds – and he was not surprisingly over the moon with joy because apart from being a stunning fish it was a very rarely-caught fish and was a new personal best fish for him!

This example proves a point about the fact that wary carp definitely fall for creative new and alternative bait ideas that offer different features and characteristics to standard baits. Note that at the time of this capture other anglers using round or barrel shaped readymade baits straight from the bag and also in dips and glugs were doing very poorly – yet this new guy caught just 2 hours after casting out on a new lake for him.

Of course there is a massive number of further ideas and insights that could have been adopted at that time but it really was a case of doing something there and then that was quick and easy so that this guy could use the idea himself in the future – again and again with success but also adapt and customise the idea and create new ones for himself! This is where I am coming from because so many anglers ask me for a recipe or even readymade bait to improve their success when what it vitally takes is creative thought that comes from observing your fish and their responses to standard and alternative baits and baiting and methods, learning about fish senses and bait substances (and why they induce feeding behaviours of various forms,) and creating practical new alternative baits and bait formats and different refined methods to overcome fish wariness all to great effect!

Now you might think that soaking boilies or pellets is a neat trick and of course many anglers do simply soak their baits in neat Minamino or whatever. But I like to cover nutritional attraction especially in multiple ways by creating homemade dips that carp have never experienced ever before; some that have metabolic-booting effects, some that are particularly enzyme-active, or some that are far more prebiotic, or probiotic for instance. Some ingredients and bait additives have come onto the market just in the last 5 years that have tremendous impacts upon fish feeding and attraction responses but many are not sold by bait companies so you need and eye open and do your research like me!

Ultimately you do not need a degree in nutrition or marine biology to catch fish, but even finding out just one new bit of information that exploits an aspect of how fish detect bait or digest baits better or see baits or hear baits or suck-up baits better, will definitely make all the difference to your catches. Fisheries are getting more and more competitive all the time so you need to exploit any edges you can create for yourself because these will most closely solve the problems and challenges you are faced with on your water! It takes experience, ability, insight and imagination as well as a sound understanding of fish to do this and not just the convenience of simply buying newly advertised baits off the shelf!

The vast majority of readymade baits are massively under-performing due to many reasons including their actual format and adsorbent or absorbent capacities and ways they transfer water from outside the bait to the centre of the bait so pumping out bait substances.

For one thing commercially made baits have to make a profit so they just do not contain the levels of substances they really could potentially contain – to far greater impact on multiple carp senses! But in adapting your readymade baits in special ways or even making quite simple but massively potent homemade baits (and highly economical ones too,) you will multiply your catches like so many others for sure!
