Fishing In Hong Kong – If You Are Looking For Reel Fun

And even in this highly populated area, you can find quiet peaceful fishing on the peninsula of Stanley. Stanley contains an open-air market where your family can find an amazing array of inexpensive Chinese clothing, souvenirs, arts, and crafts while you enjoy fishing in Hong Kong. You can fish off one of the beautiful Stanley beaches.

Local anglers say some of the best fishing in Hong Kong can be found at Lamma Island and the Sai Kung peninsula. These scenic spots recall traditional Chinese fishing villages, and you can find dependable charter boats. You can get to Sai Kung by car, taxi, or bus. Lamma Island is a short boat-ride southwest of Hong Kong Island. The ride costs from $25 to $50 US. Lamma Island is a great spot for rock fishing.

Salt water fishing in Hong Kong is like salt water fishing everywhere. Use your old familiar techniques or try deep sea fishing from a boat or surf fishing. You can also do plenty of fresh water fishing in Hong Kong. Nearby reservoirs offer carp, Big Head Tilapia, and edible Goldfish.

If you’re planning a trip to China, you’ll find some great fishing in Hong Kong. The area is full of wonderful sights and sounds. Fishing and Earthquakes – Having an Eel of a Time

It was the family summer vacation of 1982 and the Scottish Highlands were enjoying one of its rare blazing hot summers.

My dad had just bought me my first ever fishing rod from the local fishing tackle store, it was a bright shiny yellow which stood out a mile, and perhaps this was a sign of things to come!

I knew nothing about fishing but couldn’t wait to test the new rod out in the nearby Loch. My dad assembled the fishing tackle for me and off I set, fully expecting to catch lots of fish, although I hadn’t planned as far as what to do with them once I had caught them!

It was a gloriously sunny, warm day and after just a few minutes walk from where we were staying, I reached the bank of the Loch and settled into position. A friendly neighbour from one of the other log cabins was fishing just a little further up the bank and it seemed he was already having great success with his landing net already showing signs of activity!

It would only be a matter of time, I thought naively, before I was reeling in giant trout, carp and bass! I decided I wouldn’t sit down because there was sure to be lots of activity and fishing action!

I began to notice that the guy further up the bank was actually making a catch what seemed to me to be every few minutes. I also noticed and the guy confirmed as he cursed, “Another wretched eel!”, that all he was hauling in were eels! Nonetheless at least he was catching something.

An hour must have passed and I had long since sat down. The man was still cursing his luck and still reeling in the eels, while I was cursing the fact that he seemed to be stealing them all!

When I had finally given up several hours later, the final results went something like this, “man up the bank, at least 30 eels, and little ole me, 2 pieces of weed and a crisp packet!”

A couple of years later on a holiday in Wales, I went one better! In the midst of one of the most powerful earthquakes in the UK for years, I was net fishing in a stream and caught my first minnow! Hooray! I didn’t find out about the earthquake till later because I hadn’t felt a thing.

It is fair to say I am no expert fisherman but I have always retained an interest in fishing despite my humble beginnings.

Boosting Carp Baits And Easy Ways To Make Your Dips And Soaks Irresistible!

 

Soaking your carp or catfish baits in special liquids to improve your catches can cost quite a bit when you are buying small pots. Another thing is that you can actually make your own bait soaks with equal if not even more effectiveness than readymade ones! So have your eyes opened; save money and catch loads more fish – read on now!

In more recent years, pellets have taken the carp and catfish and barbel fishing worlds by storm. Boilies are still of course the number one choice for big fish around the world however. There are endless creative ways to boost your readymade baits and homemade baits effectiveness. One very simple way is to crush up some of your choice (or mixed choices) of boilies, and soak the boilie crumb in hot water. This particular method ensures the bait recipe you are using equally matches the bait profile you are soaking, although this is not an essential ingredient for success and in fact your dip can be as different as you like from your bait itself.

Simply leave for a day or maybe more and stir the runny mixture so you have in effect boilies in solution. Your then simply soak your baits in this solution to boost their impacts. Its very easy and obvious! This is great for baits straight from the bag or baits that have been dehydrated.

You can use the same method or similar methods for boosting all kinds of pellets, and meat and fish baits and even fake baits for example. You have no need to even think about being afraid of over-loading with any solvent based flavours and anyway using this method is very likely to reap bigger more wary fish.

Of course you can boost your special baits dips and soaks in endless ways so that they are more bioactive, or even so they preserve your baits. There are ways to drop or raise the pH of the solutions, make them very much more palatable in terms of vitamin and mineral and amino acid contents etc; its all up to you. In the height of the warmer temperatures when carp and catfish metabolism is peaking you can obviously go for a higher oil approach; this supplying the higher energy requirements fish have at this time in particular among others.

I’d always add a very high-grade high PC liquid lecithin anyway to improve bait digestion and general bait performance in regards to oils in baits, whether bulk oils or essential oils. (Visit Carpfishingpellets for liquid lecithin plus added extras like high-grade pure liquid salmon protein, and triple-filtered Scottish salmon oil for instance, and pure betaine HCL; such things really are very effective individually or used together!)

Making homemade liquids to boost baits is a massive subject and I could write a book about it. You can use the same liquids to boost your ground baits, particles, slop mixes, pop-ups, boilies, stick mixes and almost anything. You can very seriously boost your baits with substances that trigger feeding or with substances that attract fish into your swim very highly effectively. You can use naturally-derived extracts extremely rich in natural feeding triggers to turn fish onto feeding, or even use very easily dispersed flavours to boost very open texture un-boiled baits, to seed you swims and spots, that wash out fast but leave a sediment of paste on the bottom for warier fish to home in on.

If you want an idea for just one unusual bait soak you might try an idea just off the top of my head – maybe combine CC Moore Kelp Complex with their awesome Liquid Salmon and Krill extract and perhaps tailor this and customise this in any additional way you wish – maybe boost it using Belachan, or Cyprivit and Feedstim XP powder, or hydrolysed poultry protein etc.

Liquid recipes can be as unusual and alternative as you like – as potent and as concentrated as you like; I aim to keep an open mind when experimenting and I always seem to be finding new substances not in popular use at all in carp or catfish fishing to use in my bait soaks. As a quick tip try some of the more esoterically orientated health food and alternative herbal type websites for instance. (See below for more on this stuff!)

The range of additives, ingredients, extracts and pure substances, both natural and artificially created can all have their place in your bait dips and soaks for very powerful reasons and your fish will certainly thank you by getting hooked more often! Koi Fish Tattoos – Meanings

The image of the koi fish is often used in tattoo designs not just because of its obvious elegance and vibrant colors, but more because of the symbolism surrounding it.

“Koi” is simply “carp” in Japanese, but the expensive fish that we are all familiar with are carp that have been especially bred since ancient times in China. This special breeding has produced the multi-colored varieties of koi fish that people now collect.

Koi are vigorous fish that can swim upstream. An old Chinese legend tells of koi brave enough to swim up the waterfalls of the Yellow River, and that any fish that could reach the point in the river called “Dragon Gate” would turn into a dragon.

While the fish originated from China, it is the Japanese who have made it a household name. The koi is a celebrated symbol in Japan-mostly associated with exceptional courage. It is said that this fish, if caught and placed on a cutting board, can lie still and wait for the knife to drop-without a quiver. That it can remain stoic in the face of imminent death is a quality likened to the samurai warrior’s unflinching courage to face the sword.

Generally, koi fish tattoos’ meanings include strength of character and the temerity to face adversity and seemingly impossible odds. With regard to the Chinese “Dragon Gate” legend, koi fish are also seen as symbols of high aspiration and accomplishment. Koi are also referred to as “living jewels,” and so are likewise associated with luck and good fortune. The image of five golden koi are said to mean “eternal wealth” and wellbeing.

Still another interpretation of the koi’s ability to swim upstream is “non-conformity.” It is an advisable tattoo motif for people who put great importance to being an independent thinker.

Koi fish tattoos’ meanings can vary for different people. Others also believe that the meaning of the koi tattoo design differ depending on the placement, colors and position of the fish, as well as other aspects of the design. Of course, the ultimate meaning of any tattoo would always be unique and personal for the person who has it.

Because koi are beautifully patched fish, it is best to have a koi tattoo design that has any of its natural combinations of the colors gold, white, yellow, red, and black.
